A Study in Capillary Tension and Gravitational Mass
CHOSMA is a high-concept display typeface that visualizes the physics of liquid tension, ink saturation & celestial geometry. Born from the concept of Osmosis—the movement and pooling of energy—this typeface features extreme contrast, pairing razor-thin stems with heavy, bulbous terminals that mimic the “drip” of a wild, ink-laden brush. The font captures an aesthetic that is both intimate and universally vast.
The Two Cuts of CHOSMA
To fulfill the complete expression of its liquid metaphor, CHOSMA is presented in two distinct weights, offering a spectrum of visceral energy:
• CHOSMA Regular: The Tension Cut
This is the expression of capillary tension. Characterized by extreme contrast, it pairs razor-thin, delicate stems with massive, bulbous, pooling finials. It is a font defined by fragility and dramatic suspension, perfect for quiet-yet-intense headlines, fine-art packaging, and high-fashion editorial.
• CHOSMA Bold: The Saturation Cut
This is the expression of gravitational mass. The contrast is pulled back to a study of high/heavy variance. The stems have been expanded into powerful structural bars, while the terminal “drips” are rendered even heavier and more saturated. This cut is about force, presence, and pure pigment saturation. It thrives in loud, urgent protest graphics, avant-garde cinematic titles, and branding that requires a raw, unavoidable human presence.
Technical Overview:
310 Glyphs (including full Greek Alphabet)
Defined internally as a “Wild Brush – Drips a lot,” CHOSMA features a disconnected topology and blunt/rounded finials, ensuring that the visual “weight” is always carried by those distinct liquid endpoints. Both weights maintain a balanced x-ascent, creating a predictable vertical flow for its wild forms.
Best Use: Display sizes and headlines exclusively. Experiment with excessive letter-spacing (tracking) in the Regular cut for elegant tension, or dense tracking in the Bold cut to create a raw, dripping wall of text.
